Community Award Team

Our youth team has created a community recognition program that will award local businesses and adult mentors who have a positive influence on Washougal youth. They plan to recognize businesses that are youth-friendly, that are good employers of youth, who actively support healthy youth activities in our community, and are great role models of living a healthy life! We are thankful for those in our community who see our youth as an asset and want to recognize them for their support of youth. The Spirit of Community awards will begin taking nominations in November.

Washougal Beautification Team

Our Unite! Youth are leading a committee of adult community members in a Washougal Beautification Project. This team is partnering with WACA, WSD art teachers, Washougal Food Center, and other local businesses to improve, repaint, and repair signage around Washougal while spreading messages of hope. If you are interested in joining our team or know of a sign that we could help beautify please contact Amara Farah or Megan Kanzler at

Sources of Strength

Want to find a way to get involved? Be on the lookout for a new mental wellness team that is youth-led and adult supported. Sources of Strength will be available at Washougal High School this Fall. We are looking for high school students who are interested in becoming Peer Leaders and adults who are positive and supportive of youth to be Adult Advisors. Our monthly meetings are one part Fun, one part Sharing, and one part Planning.

Things To Celebrate

Amara Farah, a senior at Washougal High School was awarded the Washington State 2020 Prevention Award of Excellence in Youth Leadership this September. Amara has been engaged in prevention efforts in her volunteer work with Unite! Washougal for nearly 7 years.

Her contributions and dedication to promoting healthy living have provided many activities for our community. Amara is on several Unite! Teams and even is the co-lead for our Community Beautification team and is an important voice on our Unite! Leadership team and Positive Community Norms team.

She has led and contributed to efforts for a statewide policy change that protect youth and has helped to create a more inclusive and nurturing environment for all Washougal residents. Please join us in congratulating Amara on this wonderful achievement!
